Team Page Update

Practice:

Our practices will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5-6 PM on Cow Pond 2B (Monday) and 5E (Wednesday).  All players will need to bring a size 4 ball, water bottle, shin guards and cleats to every practice.

Practices will be focused on learning to play as a team as well as focusing on a particular skill each week.

Weather – I will do my best to inform you by 3PM via email if practice is cancelled. Please let me know if your son is unable to attend a practice or game so I can plan drills and our game plan accordingly.

Uniforms:

Grade 3/4 is a travel team so all players will need a Groton Dunstable travel jersey.  This can be ordered on the gdysc.org website or directly at Soccer Stuff in Acton (264 Great Rd, Acton, MA 01720).  Shirts cost $20.  We also wear black shorts and black socks.

Games:

Our 1st game is on Saturday, September 10th. All games are at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning. Our games will have 30-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime. You will find our schedule and directions to any of the away game fields on the NVYSL web site at https://nvysl.org/as_league/team/view/533. I will also email reminders of games on Fridays with Field addresses.

Game dates are:

  • Game Day 1 - September 10
  • Game Day 2 - September 17
  • Game Day 3 - September 24
  • Game Day 4 - October 1
  • No Games Columbus Day Weekend
  • Game Day 5 - October 15
  • Game Day 6 - October 22
  • Game Day 7 - October 29
  • Game Day 8 - November 5

Please let me know if your son will or will not be able to attend a game as this will help with planning positions/rotations for each game.  I would like players on game days on the field and ready to play 20 minutes before game time. This will allow us time to warm-up properly before the kick-off and check in with the referees. Games are played regardless of weather. However, in the event of cancellation, it will be posted on the Groton-Dunstable club web site at www.gdysc.org at least two hours before game time. I will also send out an email (or text if it is really last minute) notifying you of any cancellations. The NVYSL.org website is much more accessible this year and should be more user friendly.  I am hopeful that it will be more up-to-date now and this would be the best site to follow for game information.  Any last-minute notices I will inform on via text and email.
